چکیده
Chronic meningococcemia is a form of sepsis with frequent polymorphous skin lesions. Both in vivo and in vitro data suggest that, in these lesions, meningococci gain access from the capillary lumen to the peripheral extravascular compartment, in the absence of vascular dislocation, through a paraendothelial route.

IMPORTANCE Although chronic meningococcemia is an uncommon disorder, it is of great importance to clinicians across multiple disciplines because it presents similarly to reactive, neoplastic, or rheumatic disorders. Ruling out chronic meningococcemia, however, represents a diagnostic challenge because routine microbiological investigations frequently fail to identify Neisseria meningitidis. Alt...

Invasive meningococcal disease is a serious life-threatening infection. Skin rash is present in about half of the patients with meningococcal infection. However it could be easily missed if no thorough cutaneous examination is performed. Herein, we present a patient with invasive meningococcal serogroup B infection with diffuse cutaneous purplish rash and ecchymoses, suggestive of purpura fulmi...

Methods: Thirty-seven patients with CL were included in a prospective study. A 4 mm punch biopsy was obtained from the border of the lesion. After histopathologic processing and H&E staining, it was reviewed ...
